Lechon Sinigang From Feast Leftovers | What’s Cooking | MarkMyName

Thinking of something to do with your leftovers this Christmas? Here’s an RT! We tend to prepare so much food for Holidays or any festivity and ended up having too much leftovers. Those will be your recycled meals in the next coming days.

One ultimate question 2 days after Christmas is what to do with the Roasted Pig? Hahaha lechon? Why in the first you cooked a whole pig when you can’t even finish. Hahaha here is one fave recipe I do with lechon leftovers. And No! It’s not lechon paksiw! For Yuletide’s sake!

Sauté garlic, onions and the chopped lechon. Add tomatoes and cook for a while. Add water proportionate to the amout of the meat and vegetables you have. Simmer. Add real tamarind if you have available. If none you may opt to use instant sinigang mix.

Once boiling, add the vegetables of your choice. Kang kong, okra, labanos (radish), any! Promise no limits. But start adding from those that has tougher bite.

Salt and Pepper to taste.

Enjoy! Serve Hot.

El Dayo Resto Cafe Baguio | Honest Food Review | MarkMyName

El Dayo Resto Cafe Baguio.

Newly opened resto cafe just before you get in Baguio’s mainstream. It has an overlooking view and a perfect place to eat when you are about to leave the city. We tried and we gave our verdict! Please watch and subscribe to my YouTube channel: MarkMyName.

Well, those are our opinions and experience when we visited the place. Others may have a different judgement or point of view.

The resto-cafe offers Filipino food and Western dishes. We ordered boodle fight set meal,  stir fry noodles, pigar pigar and a dessert. Rating are available on my vlogs.

Key learning on this video— sometimes we try to be polite or shy in giving our thoughts because we are afraid to hurt someone by telling the truth.

Red Hotel Room Tour On My Mom’s Birthday | MarkMyName

Sometimes, I run out of ideas on how I treat my mom for her birthday. This year’s treat was very spontaneous for her since I really don’t know where to bring her. Its been a yearly tradition that on her birthday she takes at least 2 days off at work to rest. So it’s a little pressure for me to make sure its worth the break.

Its very affordable and the room is just right for its price. Though, some have reservations on checking in sa Cubao because of its perceived image. Malinis naman ito at decent.

Watch our room tour vlog to have an idea of their room amenities.

Over all the room is good for a family staycation. Fair price and access to Aranete Center is easy. And the breakfast buffet is just so so. Tip, don’t avail the breakfast buffet na if you plan to go out the next day, check out other restaurants sa Araneta center area.

To Bar Examiners 2019

Passed by UST today and it’s the start of Bar Exam.

I see a crowd cheering for their fellows despite the distance from the exam room. I hear loud voices and excitement from a silent prayer.

I hear hopes and vision of a beautiful tomorrow. I felt camaraderie and love.

I am not part of this exam nor supporting someone yet but I want to be part of the prayers and cheers!

I cheer for all the hardworks of these law students. I shout for glory and victory for all the days and nights of continuous studying and learning the laws that should be implemented in my dear country.

I cheer for the parents who never gave up to pursue their children’s dream of becoming a lawyer.

I pray for a peaceful exam process. Fair and just.

More than anything, I pray that this bar exam will bear good God fearing lawyers of this country

Good Taste Baguio | Honest Food Review | MarkMyName

Sometimes you don’t need to be fooled by the name. Taste is always relevant to one’s preference. My favorites might not be the as yours. Same principle applies to the name of the restaurant or the dish we order.

In this case, Good Taste in Baguio City. Philippines has this quite interesting bame that to me somehow does not reflect to all their dishes. Well again it is relative to one’s preference.

The restaurant caters to huge amount of tourists everyday. Apart from it having a good value for money impression it caters Filipino food staples.

On this trip, we tried pansit, buttered chicken and lumpia. I have been to Baguio several times but this vlog is 100 % legit first time to try Good Taste restaurant. Luckily, we went there early for breakfast because after we left, there’s already a long line outside waiting to get in.

Lapaz Batchoy originated from Lapaz Iloilo and Netong’s claim the originality of this Pinoy favorite noodle soup.

While we are preparing for our Tastesetters  activity, we dropped by Lapaz Public Market. It was a rainy evening so it definitely calls for a warm soup. As my friends knew that I am really a fan of authentic local cuisines so whatever the weather may, I will insist to eat here.

Nakakatuwa naman dahil nakakadagdag sa over all feel ang ambience. As for the batchoy, naguumapaw sa umami flavor ang soup nila. We also tried their puto bigas na super bagay isawsaw sa batchoy.

Tastesetters Iloilo 2019 | Food Event | MarkMyName

U

Tastesetters Iloilo August 28 -29.
Creativity that shapes the food and beverage trends.

Innovating Indigenous Ilonggo Food.
That was the theme of the recently held workshop in Iloilo. Four different courses were tackled by Chef Celina David.

Kaon Ta! Ilonggo dishes. Enhancing the flavors and making it simple to prepare. Chef presented Batchoy in two different kinds. The usual batchoy but uses San Remo Angel Hair Pasta for easier kitchen management. Also, she presented creamy Batchoy using Clara Olé Bechamel.

Biscocho also had a new take as Chef Celina made a parfait and a truffle-like choco biscocho. She uses the crumbs and cracked biscocho to maximize this Ilonggo native business.

There are also innovations done for Batuan Fruit. A sour fruit commonly available in tropical countrie like Philippines and fortunately abundance of this fruit is in Iloilo. Chef made few good new takes on this fruit which Ilonggos may use for their business and even personal household.

Chef Celina’s advise on Ilonggo dishes innovation and creativity is at the video.

Below 200 Pesos Buffet! (Sulit ba?!?) | Honest Food Review | MarkMyName

We went to Pampanga for a field work. After a tiring day we thought of dining into a fast food restaurant. But since I am always a fan of local carinderia and cuisine, syempre mas preferred ko to, thank eating sa fast food.

What do we have here sa Holidayland 168 Buffet Pampanga?

Make Your Own Pizza (Amare La Cucina) | Honest Food Review | MarkMyName

There are DIY pizza places around the Metro, but mostly i aallow ka lang nilang gumawa or maglagay ng toppings.

I don’t know but Baguio has always been our go-to place sa long weekend and we no longer fancy the site seeing but more into food trips.

Napansin ko lang na ang Baguio ay madaming bago and concept style restaurant but mostly ang food ay Western Cuisine. One of which ay ito nga! Pizza, Pasta and Gelato ang kanila offers. Though, we can’t stop but to try dahil mukha din namang intersting.

Full review of the menu and dishes we tried  ay available sa YT channel .

Gotong Goto Tendon | Honest Food Review | MarkMyName

Sa Goto mas madumi mas masarap hahahha! Tried the best Goto at Goto Tendon.

What else is the best partner of Lugaw or Goto? Tokwa’t Baboy! Hahaha this pair is very famous on street style Goto. Tho, there’s nothing fancy about their Tokwa’t baboy, it still is a good partner.

We also tried thei Beef Tendon Pares and I must say there is also nothing to fantasize about it except that it has litid which in a way gives it a good blend and texture. Speaking of something good, one must try their Lumpia Sisig. I have tried several lumpia sisg and this one is one of the best. Well, a good pair to thier goto as well.

Tapa Salad

In a concept, practically you can add anything on top of your lettuce to make it a salad. On this photo, you see, the restaurant added lots of cheese and Pinoy Classic Tapa to call it Tapa Salad.

Which gave me that idea na oo nga! Pede mong i treat or i replace ang nakasanayan mo ng kanin with lettuce! Pinapalitan nila ang bread or buns ng nakasanayang burger with lettuce. Or if I may suggest, any green leafy vegetables.

Apart from being low carb, having green leafy vegetables on your diet gives you a good amount of fiber and chlorophyll you need to get into a better lifestyle.

Enjoy!

Escape

I just wanna go somewhere where I thought I can escape
Somewhere where I thought this pain won’t be felt
I just wanna go somewhere where good times never ends
Somewhere where, the truth is its just in the corner

The road is too wide but we cannot touch the greens
But to touch the green feels divine and can never be compared
Blue sky is above me and pile of dirty mud covers my feet
Neither my eyes nor my mind can see the how to move from here
Leave me ‘til I woke up and everything here feels empty

For being alone makes me crave for you more and more
Give me the sadness I never thought I’ll ever endure
Away from you feels freedom but never been secured
The man you loved now seems to vanish as time pass by

The feeling of emptiness keeps on knocking everyday
For reasons I still open the door and welcome sadness
In the dark, I see myself losing me and yet loving you
My soul escaped from where I am and dreamed of being with you

SamgyupHalaman at The Crescent Moon Cafe

Alagao set is one of their famous appetizer at The Crescent Moon Cafe and Studio Pottery. Medyo malayo ng light sa city ang place pero isa itong magandang lugar for a quick city escape para makapag relax and eat good food.

Medyo weird ang lasa nito because it has different texture and flavors that for some ay hindi masyadong tanggap. From the leaf na medyo may manipis na hairy texture to the filling na ilalagay like onions, ginger, dried shrimp, basil and peanut in caramel. Just like how samgyupsal was introduced but this one is puro vegetables.

Not only this is masarap but it is also full of health benefits. Alagao leaves are know to lower down cholesterol and increase blood circulation. Dagdag mo pa dyan ang mga benefits na makukuha sa mga mixed of herbs when you eat this appetizer set.

Enjoy!

Meltique Beef Samgyupsal

Fancy as it sounds but this Korean Samgyupsal place in Quezon City offers this as part of their unlimited meat selections.

Leann’s Teahouse in Mother Ignacia offers different sets of K-BBQ. If medyo nagtitipid, you can have the P399 unli pork set.

So as you take a bite, parang nag memelt ang lean beef with the moist from fat and of course ang linamnam!

Shirataki Pansit (Low Carb) Tips Paano Lutuin! | What’s Cooking | MarkMyName

Low carb pansit. Simple lang, just replace your regular pansit / noodles with Shirataki noodles.

It will help to remove that smell from the brine. Boil the noodles for 1 to 2 minutes. It will help to soften the texture and remove the excess brine.

Last and pinaka-panalonh tip ko ay unahing ilagay ang noodles sa non-stick pan saka magluto ng mga sahog. In that way, you allow the noodles to absorb some of the flavors from each of the ingredients na ilalagay. Halo lang ng halo. Don’t worry about getting the noodles too saggy. Mas makakatulong din ito to give the noodles that “normal” noodle-texture.

Enjoy your Low Carb Noodles!

Salad Confession

Common connotation when you eat salad in a restaurant is you are in a diet. Well yes! That’s the truth! And most of the times, sa hindi naman sinasadyang pagkakataon, nakaka offend when the order taker repeats your order in a tone that as if di nya narinig. Minsan di din sila conscious about it pero subconsciously may kung hatid din na di maganda sa taong nag didiet naman talaga!

Well, sa situation na ito, wag mo pairalin ang pride or hiya mo. Tandaan! the more ka mahiya or the more na di mo tanggap na ang totoo ay nag didiet ka naman talaga.

Trying China Pot

Been wanting to try China Pot Binondo Style Restaurant in Delta Quezon City everytime I pass by Delta. I always have that cravings for dugyot looking long standing restaurants because I believe that they won’t last in business if they don’t serve good food.

So we tried it! It’s a carinderia type of restaurant that serves ready to eat meals and short order pansit. I must say their pansit is superb! Very umami and flavorful. But since we tried it during lunch, we ordered some ulam.

It wasn’t bad at all but the ambiance is not really for those that is looking for a nice place to eat. Overall the food is ok 👌 but because the place is not good / dugyot, one may not really enjoy it.

Their Pansit is very nice. So for those who are looking for take out bilao pansit, this is a must try! (Sorry I don’t have a photo of their pansit!)

Big Pandesal and Everlasting

Well for this story, I just wanna share ang Big Pan de Sal at Everlasting taste experience namin. We bought it sa Marikina branch BTW.

Big Pandesal is literally big in size. It’s about  6-7 inches long and 2-4 inches high. Looks like a loaf but it isn’t. Being pandesal, the outside texture has the crumb and inside is a bit hollow. The tastes gives you that wheat and butter mixed flavor and overall it’s still like your neighbourhood tinapay.

Everlasting, on the other hand is the flavor perfect partner for that 100year old Pandesal recipe bread. In a nutshell, its like embotido but instead of steaming it / shaping it in a foil and roll, they use leche flan mold. Theirs tho, is prepared in a way that the texture can be spread on the bread.

Corn Beef and Celery | What’s Cooking | MarkMyName

Corn beef. To some people, they don’t really recommend canned goods for any diet. Technically, yes! It is better to eat freshly prepared meals out of fresh and real ingredients. Pero push comes to shove, the delata is my last resort.

It’s anti-inflammatory, rich in antioxidants and low carb.

Enjoy!

In short, I don’t have standard recipe for this one but instead I have a more likely general guidelines.

For starters, i-blanche ang french bean at i set aside.

I chose chicken thigh fillet because that is my favorite part. It has that kind of bite and moist that I always love sa chicken.  Marinade it with Fish sauce and pepper per your discretion. This particular experiment, I added 2 table spoon of smoked paprika, for additional flavor. Though, generally this recipe needs to have a breading, I took it out to make it Keto compliant.

Fry the pre marinated chicken and make sure it’s well cooked.

In a saucer mash the salted egg. In restaurants, they don’t usually add the white part of the salted egg. I also added La Española Extra Virgin Olive oil in Lemon to balance the lansa in the salted egg.

Put the pan in high heat. Sauté some garlic and add the mashed saleted egg. Mapapansin na mag bubbles yan ng konti. That’s the sign! Ready na ibalik ang mga nakaraan! Ilagay muli ang french bean at prinitong manok. Ihalo at handa na!

Kainan na!

Fried Pork Chop with Kimchi and Lettuce | What’s Cooking | MarkMyName

Fried Pork Chop with Kimchi and Lettuce

So, for this one, ang fried pork chop ay mayroon lamang salt at pepper. Which is ganoon ko din naman gusto ang fried pork. Piliin pa din ang may good layers ng lean and fat. This one is a Pork Steak cut.

Fry it using Lauric Coconut Oil. Good fat pa din syempre.

For the side dish, buy the kimchi that has no sugar or less. Malalaman yun if nasa pinaka dulo ng ingredient list ang sugar.

Kimchi, being fermented, has high probiotics content which is really good for digestion. It also has a lot fibers which helps cleanse our system.

Eat and enjoy!

Baguio is a Foodie Must Visit

Ever visited Baguio recently? Though, this city is known as the summer capital of the Philippines, it now offers a lot of foodie discoveries, one must try!

Lemon and olives for one, is a place for Mediterranean food enthusiasts. Never be afraid of trying new cuisine as it will give you the opportunity to travel places using your plate.

The restaurant’s ambience is perfect for a night cozy date matched with the cold weather of the city. Added to it is a very nice Baguio night skyline because it’s located quite far from the centre of the busy city.

For quick easy food and sight seeing trip, Baguio is really my go-to place. Not only because of the weather but ever since this place never forget to reinvent itself.

New and Must Try at Mama Lou’s Italian Restaurants

It’s been ages since I last tried Mama Lou’s in Up Town Center. But the feel and excitement I had the first time I tried it is still the same as today. I initially craved for KBBQ, but can’t find one (or maybe I’m not really trying hard to find one) in UP Town. So I was strolling in Merkado Supermarket and passed by Mama Lou’s. Nostalgia it is when I first tried it. There are some that are quite new on their menu. So we tried and ended up being happy about it. First is their breakfast pizza. It has a kind of weird description but we ended up enjoying the blend of our breakfast favorites. Sausages, spinach, cherry tomatoes and eggs. Seafood Pasta also gave me that summer breeze feels with the blend of mussels, clams and shrimp broth in tomato based sauce and aldente pasta. The mussels tho aren’t opened. My newest Mama Lou’s favourite dish is their Truffle baked Mac and Cheese. Oozing with creamy cheese goodness and just the right amount of truffle flavor.
